Sainsbury’s shoppers give generously

3rd June 2025

The weather was sunny and Sainsbury’s shoppers were in the mood to give generously at our most recent food drive.  A whopping 1271 kg of food was collected along with £271.65 in donations.

Maria Grindley, Chair of Witney Foodbank said:

“I was overwhelmed by the generosity and support of the lovely people of Witney and surrounding areas. We are also reliant on the support from local businesses and I would like to extend a huge thank you to the staff from NatWest in Witney who gave up their Saturday morning to support the food drive as part of their corporate responsibility programme.  We really appreciate it.

If you are a local company and looking for a way to help please do get in touch.”

Food drives help us build up stock instead of buying food to distribute.  Five years ago around 98% of the food we received was through donations.  Now we are receiving around 60% so the rest has to be purchased through money raised by the food bank charity.

Join us if you can for our next food drive on:

  • Saturday 26th July at Waitrose 9am – 3pm
  • Saturday 6th September at Sainsbury’s 9am -3pm
