A vacancy has opened for the role of Foodbank Coordinator to cover maternity leave from the beginning of July 2024 for 12 months. The role is to ensure all aspects of the foodbank run smoothly, efficiently and to a high standard at all times, in accordance with the Trussell Trust franchise guidelines.
Responsible to: The Trustee Board
Responsible for: The smooth and efficient running of the foodbank warehouse
Salary: £15.00 – £16.00 per hour
Part time role: 20 hours per week
Specific responsibilities:
- The smooth running of the foodbank on a day-to-day basis
- Interacting with foodbank clients on a daily basis
- Ensure that all foodbank processes and procedures are followed as per the Trussell Trust Foodbank Operating Manual
- Ensure the foodbank is a safe space for all clients, volunteers and visitors
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are understood and implemented
- Ensure that client confidentiality is respected at all times
- Leading and training volunteers to undertake responsibilities within the foodbank and to meet the relevant legal requirements.
- Monitor health and safety at the foodbank centre and maintain records
- Bring to the attention of the Trustee Board any concerns regarding the day-to-day operation
Food stock & supplies
- Monitor stock levels at the foodbank centre(s) request re-supply of food and other provisions, ordering stock through the systems in place as required
Data
- Ensure all completed referral vouchers are handled discreetly, stored securely, and entered onto the data collection system.
- Deal with email inbox and other correspondence
Agencies
- Communicate with referral agencies in response to queries or issues arising from referral vouchers presented by clients at the foodbank centre
Public Relations
- Refer local press enquiries to the relevant Trustee
Essential Requirements:
Skills & experience
- Ability to plan and organise the day-to-day running of a foodbank centre session
- Ability to lead staff and Volunteers
- Ability to manage and resolve difficult situations
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised
- Demonstrable ability to work with and uphold values of honesty and integrity
- Good time management skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Empathetic with the ability to work with people from disadvantaged, marginalised, or socially excluded backgrounds
Personal attributes:
- Passionate about tackling poverty and the work of the foodbank
Desirable Experience
- Previous work in a client facing role providing similar services in the community
- Direct experience managing volunteers
Training
Induction training
H&S, Environmental Health & Manual Handling as appropriate
Supporting Children and adults with care and support
Handling Conflict and Aggression as appropriate
